Sourcetable offers two ways to work with templates: choose from a library of pre-built templates, or describe what you need and let the AI generate one from scratch.

AI template generator

Open the AI chat and select Template mode, or just ask:
  • “Create a monthly budget tracker template”
  • “Generate a project timeline template with milestones and dependencies”
  • “Make a sales pipeline template with stages, probabilities, and expected close dates”
  • “Build an employee onboarding checklist template”
The AI creates a fully structured spreadsheet with:
  • Appropriate columns and headers
  • Formulas for calculations (totals, averages, percentages)
  • Conditional formatting for visual cues
  • Sample data to demonstrate the template

  • Ask the AI to add or remove sections
  • Connect it to live data sources via connectors

Saving templates

Save any workbook as a template for reuse:
  1. Build your template (manually or with AI)
  2. Save the workbook
  3. Duplicate it each time you need a fresh copy
Templates connected to data sources will pull fresh data each time they’re opened.
