Sourcetable provides the same formatting options you’d expect from Excel or Google Sheets.

Text formatting

Apply text styles using the toolbar or keyboard shortcuts:

Number formats

Apply number formats from the toolbar dropdown or with shortcuts:

Quick date entry

Press Ctrl+; to insert the current date into the selected cell.

Cell appearance

Colors

  • Text color — change the font color of selected cells
  • Background color — set cell fill color
  • Border colors — customize border appearance
All color options support both preset palettes and custom hex values.

Alignment

  • Horizontal alignment — left, center, right, or justified
  • Vertical alignment — top, middle, or bottom
  • Text overflow — control how text behaves when it exceeds the cell width (clip, wrap, or overflow)

Borders

Add borders to cells, ranges, or specific edges (top, bottom, left, right) via the toolbar border button.

Conditional formatting

Apply rules to automatically format cells based on their values. Access conditional formatting from the Format menu. You can set rules based on:
  • Cell value (greater than, less than, between, equal to)
  • Text content (contains, starts with, ends with)
  • Date ranges
  • Custom formulas

Decimal places

  • Increase decimal places — add precision to number formatting
  • Decrease decimal places — reduce precision
Both options are available in the toolbar number format section.
