How to Remove 00 from Numbers in Excel

Removing 00 from numbers in Excel is a common task, as Excel automatically strips leading zeros from numbers. To maintain data integrity or formatting, it’s sometimes necessary to remove these zeros manually.

Remove Leading Zeros

To remove leading zeros from numbers in Excel, select the affected cells, right-click, and choose Format Cells. In the dialog box, click the Number tab, select Number from the list, and set the Decimal Places to 0.

Remove Trailing Zeros

Similarly, to eliminate trailing zeros, highlight the cells, right-click, and select Format Cells. Under the Number tab, choose Number, and input 0 in the Decimal Places field.

Additional Methods

If the leading zeros are caused by custom formatting, alter the format to remove them. The Text to Columns feature can also be used for this purpose. There are a total of five methods available, depending on the specific scenario.
