    How to Make Header Stay When Scrolling in Excel

    Freeze Top Row or Column

    To keep the top row or first column in view while scrolling in Excel, use the Freeze Panes feature. Go to the View tab, select the Freeze Panes drop-down arrow, and choose Freeze Top Row to lock the first row or Freeze First Column to lock the first column.

    Freeze Multiple Rows or Columns

    For freezing multiple rows, select the row right below the last row you want to freeze. For columns, select the column right after the last column you want to freeze. Then, click Freeze Panes from the View tab's Freeze Panes drop-down.

    Freeze Both Rows and Columns

    To lock both rows and columns, click the cell below and to the right of the area you want to keep visible. From the View tab, select Freeze Panes in the Freeze Panes drop-down to freeze both.
