# Web research

> Search the web, find data, and import information directly into your spreadsheet with AI.

Sourcetable's AI can browse the internet, search for information, and pull data directly into your spreadsheet.

## Web search

Ask the AI to search the web for information:

* "Search for the current S\&P 500 companies and their market caps"
* "Find the latest GDP data for G7 countries"
* "Look up competitor pricing for project management tools"

The AI uses web search and Google search tools to find relevant information and formats it into spreadsheet-ready data.

## Deep research

For complex research tasks that require synthesizing multiple sources, use the deep research capability:

* "Research the electric vehicle market — key players, market size, growth rate, and trends"
* "Compile a competitive analysis of CRM platforms with features, pricing, and market share"

The AI searches multiple sources, cross-references information, and produces a structured summary.

## Public datasets

Select **Public Dataset** mode to find and import publicly available datasets:

* "Find a dataset of US census data by zip code"
* "Get historical stock prices for AAPL for the last 5 years"
* "Find a dataset of global COVID-19 case counts"

The AI uses the data finder tool to locate relevant public datasets and imports them into your spreadsheet.

## Browser automation

For more advanced data collection, the AI can automate browser interactions using Playwright:

* Navigate to specific web pages
* Extract structured data from websites
* Take screenshots of web content
* Interact with web applications
